Organic Soybean Takeaways for 2019

We wanted to share a few key takeaways from our organic soybeans this year. As we mentioned with our organic corn, our in-furrow applications were a big help this year, especially considering the weather. Watch the video from David Yoder to learn more. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us anytime.

Hey everybody, this is David Yoder coming to you from the research farm here in Garden City, Missouri. I want to talk to you a little bit about organics – especially on the soybean side.

This year was especially tough, especially in our organic production. Even our conventional guys had a lot of troubles. In-furrow again on our soybeans seemed to really help. Especially with the cool, wet weather we had there were a lot of soybeans planted late. Now we’ve had a fairly early frost – that may hurt us too. This year has just been tough overall.

But, our in-furrows seem to be doing really good. Our liquid chicken litter is something we are running in-furrow. And of course our sweeteners and all of our organic products. They’re getting us up out of the ground early and beating the weeds that are coming out of the ground.

Our burners were really important to us this year. I tried some early burning this year, it was right at that first trifoliate. That didn’t work out so well for me. Next year we’re going to try it on our second trifoliate. I had some guys doing that this year and they had some really good success with that. That’s really encouraging.

If you guys have any questions or comments give us a call. Our yield trials are coming out in the next week or so. That will be really interesting to see how those worked out for us this year. We should have some good data on in-furrow products and things like that.

Like I said, give us a call with any questions or comments. We would love to help you and talk to you. This is David Yoder signing off.
